Our Mom often likes to say to us, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” This saying is quite appropriate for the rebuilding phase Charlotte and I find ourselves in. After being away for some time, we’ve realized we just can’t ignore this space that God has given us. Most importantly, we can’t ignore you! All of you, who have so kindly said you want us to return, want to hear our voices, know what we’re up to, and what we’re learning these days.
Friends, there’s no simpler way to put it except you care about us, and that is more than special. Thank you especially for not giving up on us when we needed to set this aside for a time. It means a lot to know that we still have a presence here on Boyer Sisters, in spite of all the refinement that has taken place.
We’re Changing Up the Recipe
Speaking of change, Charlotte and I plan to honor the refinement that has taken place by giving Boyer Sisters a new flavor. Yes, we’re doing it again, we’re redesigning the blog! But what’s the harm in celebrating a new period of life through good design? We’re really excited for the change that’s coming! We hope that you will be able to more thoroughly enjoy the two sisters behind this blog all the more after it’s done.
Along with the aesthetic modifications, we’re also changing up what we share on here. Don’t worry, we’re keeping all the old content–it’s our history after all! But, we can’t go back to the “good old days” of modest fashion blogging. There’s nothing wrong with them. I love them just as much as you! But really, when you look at it, life isn’t all about modest fashion. Life is so much broader, bigger, richer, fuller than the decisions of what we put on every day!
So instead, we’re going to talk a lot more about Faith, Relationships, and Lifestyle. Don’t say goodbye to Style and Beauty too quickly! We’re keeping them because life would be drab and boring without these two conduits.
Give it a Good Stir!
I just took a deep breath. Change, or refinement I should say, is hard, girls. Charlotte and I understand this very well. The changing up of Boyer Sisters will be hard, but it will be so worth it in the end. I don’t say that because I’m trying to make our decisions palatable. No, I think what I’m getting at is this: God did not create us to be like robots with limited functions and purpose. He created us to be explorers! We will never grow into our truest selves in Christ if we don’t take leaps in faith and embrace refinement. (All this from the girl who puts on the breaks at the mere mention of change by the way. 😉 )
Ironically, when we do our very best to stay the same, God seems to have a way of dumping a bucket of cold water over our heads and suddenly, we’re faced with a reality that terrifies us. Does that sound familiar? The brokenness we experienced as a family was that bucket of shockingly cold water. We girls were on a set course and then–sploosh! Down it came! There was nothing we could do to stop it! And even though it was hard, it was worth it because it made us better! It caused us to see life in a new way, and long all the more for the deep love of our Mighty Father in Heaven.
Easier said than done, but I’m going to say it anyway. Girls, don’t be afraid of refinement. Embrace a new season with as much joy and excitement as you can afford.
Even the ugly, bleak experiences that are the hardest to see, touch, live in. These experiences will unveil a glory you never knew existed. And that glory doesn’t have to come at the end, either! It is present in the ugliest scenes. All it takes to find it is an open mind, and a heart that beats with God’s. Seek Him, and you shall find Him. Love Him, and He will reveal how much more He loved you before the dawn of time. Follow Him, and He will give you your heart’s desire. Fail at all of it, and He will show you boundless grace.
Ready for Serving
We can’t promise anything, (God’s got all the answers) but with the time that we have over the next months and years, Charlotte and I look forward to pouring ourselves into this platform that God has richly blessed. He opened up our hearts to return, and for this, we are so thankful. I’m not exactly sure why it took so long to come back, but we’re here now, and that’s what matters. We love you guys, and we look forward to serving you all with inspiring words and ideas to keep you living life to its fullest.
Love and blessings… and cheers for goodness sakes!!!
