Hello dears! It seems that we girls are getting a little more laid-back and casual with the outfits we’re sharing with you all these days, hehe! But hey, it’s what we wear and what we look like on the daily, so why hide it? Today you see me bare-footed; just about makeup-less; my hair left in loose, natural curls (that were frizzy most of the day, lol); in an über comfy Summer jumper & my favorite pleated skirt. When I was younger, no item of clothing would please me unless it was boldly colored or printed. While that part of my fashion personality has definitely remained, I’m finding myself gravitating towards natural tones such as grays, blues, and greens as I’ve gotten older. They are super simple to wear, and have that ever classy, Parisian-chic vibe that I just adore. I know it’s trendy these days to go minimalist and subdued in one’s color palate, but what can I say? The trends do get it right in my book sometimes 😉
Shirt: Loft / Skirt: Ruche / Necklace c/o Meadow & Fawn
For most of my teen years I’ve parted my hair on the side, as I’ve always thought that is what suited me. I was very much prairie-girl-meets-homeschooler in my tweens, with middle parts & french braids all day, every day (ribbons tied at the ends of the braids, no less. Oh, those were the days, lol! 😛 ), with too many photos to account for my “awkward” years of fashion. Thus, I’ve tended to shy away from parting my hair in the middle for fear of looking too young and childish. However, I’m discovering that a middle-part is quite nice for this thick-haired gal, as it evenly distributes my hair without one side being too bulky and hard to style. Plus I’m finding ways to play with it that are more modern and mature, and I am really growing to love the more messy/textured hairstyles: they are so easy and time-efficient to style and tailor perfectly to my natural curly hair!
When we had a giveaway for one of Meadow & Fawn’s Amazonite Acorn Necklaces a couple months ago, every time I would lay my eyes on those darling things I must confess I was tempted to enter the giveaway myself, haha 😉 You can imagine how thrilled I was when Alexis contacted me about doing an item feature. Um, yes please! I’ll take one of those necklaces! I love how naturally beautiful the amazonite stones are (each one is unique in color, too!), and the whole necklace is so perfectly simple and beautiful. It was the ideal addition to the outfit I’m sharing today. Not too fussy, and perfectly complimentary to the modern minimalist-meets-comfort style that I was going for. Plus, it added just a dash of whimsy that was perfectly welcome. I decided to go for a 24″ chain length, which is longer than I usually choose. I wanted a necklace that I could easily wear with just about any neckline, and the shorter the necklace, the harder that gets! I opted for long, and absolutely love it!
I must say that I felt perfectly fairy-ish having these photos taken 😉 There’s just something about being bare-footed, curly-haired, and wearing an acorn necklace. Sounds petty I know, but I guess I’m a bit of a romantic, haha!
