Hello dears! Today I am excited to share with you all a little fashion challenge that has been determining my wardrobe-related decisions for the past 2 weeks. A few weeks ago we took a little trip to Goodwill, and I came home with 2 or 3 “new” sweaters that I was quite eager to add to my collection. Now, some of you may know how much I adore a good piece of knitwear; so I decided, just for fun, to go through and count just how many sweaters I have collected up over the past few years. It turned out to be well over 20. Um, ok… excessive much? So Brigid decided to challenge me: for 14 days wear 14 different sweaters. I agreed, and the photos below are the evidence of that feat. Spoiler: I was successful… for the most part. Other than forgetting to photograph a couple of days, as well as getting sick at the very end, I ticked off just about every day with a different sweater for each day. Want to see what I wore?
Day 1 / A sweet little sweater vest from Jessica!
Day 2 / A light cotton cardigan worn backwards & paired under a flannel 1950s-style weskit. Also, can I just say that I love bed-head that turns out perfectly vintage-appropriate?? And I’m not talking pin-curled bed-head 😉
Day 3 / A green thrifted cardigan that I added some pretty accent stitching to. Also, bright orange lipstick! Love that stuff 🙂
Day 4 / A lovely 1950s piece from my favorite Two Old Beans Vintage Shop. I LOVE this sweater! And the weather was mild enough for 3/4 sleeves! Yay!
Day 5 / A black number that I found at Goodwill. It’s a favorite, and reminds me of 1950s ski-wear for some reason. I went for super simple, with a dash of color from my lipstick.
Day 6 / A day out shopping for Mom’s birthday. I went for parisian chic with my beret, scarf, and stripe sweater. And yes, I am forever regretting not pulling out the end of my scarf that got caught on my neckline. #ugh
So this is when things start to get a little complicated 😉 I forgot to photograph day 7 and 8 (Sunday & Monday), so there’s a wee bit of skipping going on, though rest assured I wore a different sweater for those days too 😉
Day 9 / A comfortable, 50s inspired ensemble featuring my lovely cardigan from Woolovers. Love that sweater, and that brand 🙂
Day 10 / This sweater is an oldie but a goodie. I just love the pattern and colors, and it was SO beautiful that day, so I could break out the 3/4 sleeves without discomfort! Quite a contrast to the winter wonderland outside my window at present 😉
Day 11 / Oh, this sweater, this sweater. I LOVE my Emmy cardigan so much: the fit, color, fair isle, vintage-ness… Also, I really like this ensemble, so it will definitely be on repeat now that I’m done with the challenge. 😉
Day 12 / My magically soft merino wool Brooks Brothers sweater. Oh, I adore this thing. It was a late Christmas present from Mom (got lost in the gift closet, evidently), and it’s probably one of my favorite and most-worn gifts from that holiday.
Yet more complications: I got sick! Days 12 and 13 were spent in bed wearing my black & white polkadot PJs watching the 1995 Pride & Prejudice. But, Brigid was merciful and let me off those days, knowing that this type-A gal would have worn different sweaters both those days had my health cooperated 😉
Day 14 / Still looking incredibly peaky and low from the flu I had. Yay. Nonetheless I wore super comfy knits that day, pairing a little grey cardigan over my easy-peasy green dress. And because being sick doesn’t mean you can’t be classy: a matching green scarf to top it all off 😉
I’m still feeling pretty low from my sickness, so after this I’ll probably curl up in my bed and do something relaxing… maybe read a book or watch a show.
