As requested, I am finally here to share with you probably the most indulgent photo shoot of myself I’ll ever post: my senior photos! I don’t know, but somehow I have a bit of a hard time, and almost find it a wee bit boring, posting all these photos of myself… But! You all requested it, and I’m quite proud of the job that Brigi B. did with these, so how could I not share? 😉
It’s a rather funny thing being the photographer of the household and having to get your senior portraits taken. I tried to be as hands-off with Brigid as I could, which took a bit of effort, though in the end, I tried to be content in sitting back and letting Brigid drive, only giving her my advice as she needed it. All the years of training that I’ve been bestowing on Brigid has paid off, however, as these photos are definitely her best work yet!
We went to a local park for my photos, which is located at a dam, so there were both autumnal trees and water to work with, which kind-of-sort-of really made me happy 🙂 I had a bit of a time figuring out what to wear for the shoot, as I hadn’t made myself any special dress or item of clothing… In the end I settled on my delicious Ralph Lauren kilted skirt with my favorite wool sweater. And how can I ever forget my shoes?? For one half of the shoot I wore my Poetic License oxfords, and for the second half, my Spats. My beloved vintage umbrella made a debut as well, in addition to my Dad’s old camera as a prop (because how can you do a Senior shoot without props??). Overall, the styling was of the vintage/adventurous/casual/classic, and I am very satisfied with how everything came together 🙂
Ok, enough background! Now onto the photos!
We started out on a picnic table. For some reason I thought the tabletop would make for an excellent seat, so we worked with it 🙂
We came to a bridge overlooking the spillway from the dam… um, I think that I’m in love with golden hour sunshine & water. Please somebody recruit me to do a shoot with these two things?? The lighting is simply delicious.
Ok, so here’s a fun collage that I put together. We came to this same place for our school portraits shoot with Joanna Dell 3 years ago, a photo from which you can see on the left. I remembered that photo during my Senior session, so Brigid managed to recreate it quite perfectly! As you can see, a lot has happened in three years 😉
Water + golden light + vintage cameras = GAH! Blissful.
I like to imagine here that I’m sitting at the banks of a Scottish loch with a crisp autumn breeze passing through… mmm….
Didn’t I say Brigid did a delightful job? I’m thinking we need to start a photography business together sometime, somehow… 😉
So I’m sure that these photos spark the question: “What are you going to do after you graduate?” A classic answer might be “go to college”, etc. But you know what my answer is? I don’t know for sure. The Lord has built bridges in my life for me to cross when the time comes, and those I am content to cross when He wills it. I do have ideas for a web design business and furthering my photography endeavors, but other than that my “replacement” for academics is yet to be revealed. So much has happened this past year that I feel I really can’t try and plan out my future. I have dreams, I have ideas, I have prayers, but my hands are open for the Lord to give and take away.
What did you all think of the photos?
Anyone else graduating in 2016?
