Hello! It’s been a while since we last updated you all with a lately post, hasn’t it? So much has taken place over the past few weeks, and I am excited to unveil it all to you!
From Behind the View Finder
Like I mentioned in this post, I had the immense privilege of second-shooting a wedding with Joanna of Joanna Christine Photography a couple weeks ago! I was able to use a 6D for the first time (she rented it for me), and had so much fun practicing with it the night before the wedding. It’s a swell, swell camera, and the detail it captures gives me chills… SO good 😀
Attached above are a few of my favorite images from the bride & groom portrait session. Those two were absolutely adorable in front of the camera, and were a real treat to photograph 🙂
And then… Brigi made a daisy chain (more technically: a coreopsis chain. Though because those two flowers are of the Daisy family, it can pass as both 😀 ). Simple summer joys, y’all!
Oh, oh! This one gets me SUPER excited! It has something to do with my vintage capsule wardrobe, the 1930s, and bargains. I can hardly wait to share the full story soon! 😀
Recently we have been plying our needles on some tulip printed rayon challis for some new performance ensembles… but our original plans didn’t exactly materialize the way we hoped, so it’s back to the ol’ drawing board! Sigh. We are hoping to get them done in time for Remembering WWII this September (yes, we will be singing there again! But more on that in another post 🙂 ).
And finally, a little somethin’ I whipped up from a 1950s style birthday dress mom made for me a couple years ago. Did you know that there is enough fabric in a 1950s dress’ skirt to make a 1940s style sundress? Why yes, there is! 😀 I was telling the girls that it’s a shame the fashions of the 50s came after WWII and the “Make do and Mend” phase, since the women of the 40s would have had so much more to “make do” with had the 50s fashions come prior 😉
Below are a few iphone snaps, both socially shared and unshared photos 🙂
We got a road sign…erm… aluminum sign! Woohoo! Which we purchased in preparation for….
… Singing at the Cincinnati 1940s Weekend this Saturday! We had our sound check on Tuesday, and are so. stinkin’. excited for what’s ahead! If you’re going to be in the area on the 15th of this month, then be sure to stop by at the Cincy History Museum! You can view the schedule of our performances, as well as the many other attractions, here. We hope to see a few of you there 🙂
New Poetic License shoes for the singing sisters! 😀
Jessica busily working at making 1940s-esque hair flowers for our tulip ensembles (mentioned above). They turned out SO pretty!
And last but not least, my order of wool that I mentioned in this post! I can hardly wait to stitch up some dresses, blouses, and skirts out of these gorgeous fabrics!
