Hello there! What… you’ve never seen me in pigtails? Oh goodness, that’s right! You haven’t yet have you? *chuckle* My dear friends, I thought it was high time to wear a “normal” everyday Jessica outfit, just so that you all can see that even though we love to dress vintage, we still appreciate the days at home when we can wear a simple outfit with a simple no fuss hair style. Hem… at least I do… the girls can speak for themselves. 🙂

I wore this outfit just yesterday, and girls, it is such a nice one. It has been unexpectedly dreary here in Southern Ohio for the first days of June, so to combat the dull weather, I wanted to wear something bright and cheerful. A good friend from Church once told me that the best thing to do on a cloudy day is wear yellow. I thought that was the most ingenious idea, and I have tried to remember that rule of thumb ever since. But since yellow doesn’t look as good on me as pink, I went with the more becoming color. 🙂
So what was I doing when I wore this outfit? I began the day with a few email replies, before heading out to the garden for an hour of weeding. Thanks to the knit sweater, I could easily bend over and reach for all the weeds without being restrained. Sorry ladies, woven cottons just don’t cut it for yard work.
Later on after lunch, we all headed out to the garage for a couple hours worth of cleaning. Boy! Did we clean! We try to have a dance every summer, and with one coming up at the end of the month, a thorough clean out of the garage is required for its “fellowship hall” transformation to succeed. You’ll be hearing about this in the coming weeks… If you can’t remember what our dances are like, here is a post for reference.
Since I am trying to wear necklaces more, I decided I would wear my paternal Grandparents’ birthday gift to me. Isn’t the cross just lovely? Ever since the girls and I were little, our dad’s parents have always made a point to buy the girls and I jewelry that harkens to our faith in Christ. I love this thoughtful gift so much, because it holds all of their love and care within its shape and beauty.
As I said in the beginning, even though our girls’ lifestyles have been changed by the darling vintage fashions, we still, upon occasion, find a need to wear a more modern, practical outfit. Pigtails included. 🙂
How often do you think I wear pigtails?
Have you ever helped your family clean out your garage?
Do you have special jewelry your grandparents have given you?
Love and blessings!
