Hello dears! You don’t know what this week has been like for me. If life has ever been a roller coaster ride, it certainly has been for me this past week. Indescribable unbelief, everyday joys and trials, the tasks of each day all mixed into one wonderfully insane week of this existence that we call life. But you aren’t here about that, or are you? Anyways, shall we talk about my outfit? Alright!
I actually made this chocolate dress last summer, but never blogged about it. It is made from some rayon challis I picked up at Jo-ann’s a few years ago, and the pattern is the same one as I used for this dress. I suppose the reason I never blogged about it is because I only wore it once. I don’t know what it is about this dress, but even though I made it, something makes me not quite like it. Or maybe it’s just the fact that it’s hard to iron. 😉
Dress: Me-made, unblogged // Ballet Flats: Payless Shoe Source // Pearl Necklace: c/o Meadowland Designs // Belt: Borrowed from Charlotte
Around the neckline I embroidered some arrowheads, thinking that this would eliminate the need for a necklace. But, such a nice sweetheart neckline just begs for a choker necklace. So, right before we stepped out the door to Church, I grabbed my pearl necklace from Meadowland Designs. Every time I wear this necklace, I love it a little bit more. It is just so practical and pretty! And it goes with everything!
You know what is funny? I’ve heard people talk about this before, but never experienced it myself; but, looking at the pictures of this dress, I am really starting to like it! Maybe it will see the light of day a few more times this summer. Remembering Emileigh’s inspirational post about contentment (which also happens to be her theme this month), I think I will endeavor to figure out how to wear this dress and make it something I do enjoy and love, just as much as my other dresses.
Have you ever been un-satisfied with something you have made?
What is your favorite dress to wear in the summer?
How has your week been?
I wanted to leave you all with a verse that has been helping me get through this past week:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”
Proverbs 3: 5-6
May He direct your paths as you head into a new week!
Blessings in Him,
Brigid, the Middle Sister and Singer
