Hello dears! I am so pumped to share with you one of our most amazing, surreal experiences yet in the blogosphere: our blogger meet-up with the lovely Pokone Sisters of Bramblewood Fashion!
Now I must give you a bit of background to this tale, so that you can grasp the entirety of the impact it had on us: many, many years ago (probably 7-8), Brigid stumbled across a modest fashion blog (the first of its kind that we girls had ever found) called Bramblewood Fashion, run by the lovely Ashley Pokone. Well, the discovery of Ashley’s blog planted a seed in our girls’ imaginative minds, and Brigid joined in her Fall Fashion Challenge in [insert date], which really kicked off in a small way, our girls’ journey in the blogosphere. Months passed, and we upheld Ashley and her blog as the ultimate standard of blogging, and aspired and admired everything she did, only dreaming of one day being something close to what she is in the modest fashion world. We girls matured in our blogging style and presence, and as we grew both in quality and quantity in the blogosphere, our relationship with Ashley was growing too, from prestigious, professional blogger in our eyes, to something more: a friend. We girls used to freak out with excitement any time we had any form of communication with Ashley, be that through a comment or email. But one day we got an email from her asking if we would be interested in co-hosting a fashion event with her, Olivia, and Callie. Um… *face-palm* All of a sudden, we girls were on the same level as Ashley. We really couldn’t believe that the gal who had provided us with so much support and inspiration through her many blogging events and challenges, was actually asking us, the Boyer sisters, to help her out in hosting one. I think that event really helped to kick-off a much more personal level of communication with those blogging ladies, and presented a door waiting to be opened, of one day actually meeting these Godly, inspirational gals in person one day.
That day happened last weekend.
We girls had hosted a virtual meet-up with a few of our favorite blogging friends, the fabulous sisters of Bramblewood Fashion included; and afterward Ashley sent us an email saying that she, Gaby and Hanne-col were quite eager to meet up with us. That set off a series of messages of planning, setting dates, figuring out which state who would travel to… and all the rest 🙂 We finally found a day that was free on both of our calendars; and eagerly awaited it, anticipating the fantastic time we would have chatting, shopping, and fellowshipping in one another’s company.
Friday morning arrived, and a plethora of Facebook posts, text messages, and overall internet-exuded excitement ensued. We loaded up in our car, with magazines, books, and cameras close to hand.
We drove for 2.5 hours, and finally pulled into the parking lot in front of the Ulta we would meet at. We escaped from the vehicle that had held us captive for our road trip, and saw, for the first time in the flesh, our friends the Pokone sisters.
It’s hard to describe just how surreal that moment was.
I remember looking at Ashley in Ulta, and just staring in disbelief that I was looking at this girl in person, whom I had only seen via the screen of our computers for so many years.
We moved on from the overwhelmingly beautifying atmosphere of Ulta, to the relaxed one of Starbucks and spent a couple hours discovering each other’s lives, characters, and interests. We uncovered so many gems in the treasure trove that is the Pokone sisters, and found three truly kindred spirits.
Behind the Starbucks where so many wholesome conversations had taken place, we discovered a little walkway shrouded on one side by hedges, the other by an open highway. We set up there for taking pictures, and as we were being our cheesiest for Gaby’s camera, a truck with two young men in the front seats, honked at us. Ahem. You can experience our priceless reactions over at Ashley’s blogpost. It’s really quite epic.
We then piled into the car again, and stopped by the Pokone’s signature stores: Simply Chic and Half-price Books. We picked up some fabulous items, a few of which you can see in the vlog below.
Oh yeah, I haven’t yet mentioned that, have I? Well, yes, I did film a little video of our time in Indiana, which you can watch at the end of the post 😉
We stopped at the most prestigious fashion mall we girls have ever stepped foot in, to dine at Chipotle for dinner. It was quite the experience, and we girls were in awe of the atmosphere that was so upper class and professional (y’all, there was a “Rules of Conduct” poster at the front entrance. Um, HELLO!)
You can watch us above, and discover further the adventure we had with the Pokone sisters. I hope you enjoy!
Well, now I must leave you friends. I hope you enjoyed this peek into our time in Indiana with Ashley, Gaby, and Hanne-col! Special thanks to those gals for putting up with my semi-obnoxious vlogging self, and Mom for being our ever-complying chauffeur. 😉
Have you ever been able to meet-up with blogger friends?
