Hello lovelies! Today I am excited to be sharing with you all my plans & endeavors for my Summer Wardrobe this year. I usually am quite on top of things when a new season for my wardrobe rolls around, but my financial situation (heh) and overall vigor to get behind my sewing machine and make myself some new frocks has been quite lacking. I do have plans, however, and that’s what I’m here to share with you all today 🙂
Over the past months, I have really found myself warming up to accessories and the variety they can add to an outfit. They are inexpensive, can be mixed and matched in so many creative, unique ways, and are just so. fun. 🙂 Bracelets are starting to become a specialty of mine, as well as bright statement earrings. Darker earrings usually get lost in my dark curls, so I always try and aim for the bright and bling-y.
Also, like I mentioned in this post, hair wraps are a must in the warmer months, since most days my hair has a mind of it’s own, hehe 😉 Garlands of Grace are a definite favorite, since their styles are the cutest around and they have the most adorable prints, textures, and details sewn into their accessories.
Ah, sunglasses. As a child, I was lucky if I had a pair. I was alway losing or breaking them on our Summer road trips and excursions. Now, however, I have started to love collecting up frames that flatter my face and exude vintage flair. It’s no fun to put on a pair of sunglasses when you need them, and find they just ruin your outfit, now is it? You put in so much time to match your ensemble and accessories so perfectly… and then you put on that ugly pair of drugstore sunnies that you only bought out of necessity. No, ladies, just no. Don’t do it to yourselves! Don’t settle! Take the time to find the cute ones, the perfect shape that flatters your face and complements your style! They usually aren’t that much more expensive if you look in the right places, too.
As I mentioned before, my pocketbook has been much less than full as of late, so I am finding myself picking up clothing in the oddest of places with out any cost to me; whether that be via a giveaway, hand-me-downs, or old dresses that I’ve grown out of *sob* and need to refashion. It is a great blessing, and one that I am very grateful for. So, ripping out seams and cutting new garments out of old ones is my largest source of handmade garments at the moment. I guess that the relative simplicity and ease of remakes is rather providential for me at the moment, since I have a pretty big project that needs finishing up, which I have been devoting most of my sewing time to… But that’s another post… I’ll update you on that later… 🙂
What are your plans for your Summer wardrobe?
