Hello dearies! I wish I could say a lot has been happening around here lately, but it hasn’t. The days have been quiet, and filled with pretty much the same occupations from day to day. The weather outside has been blistering cold, so most of my hours are spent indoors, including the time in which we took these outfit photos. And today, my dears, you get a little peek into a corner of our abode where we keep our little nicknacks and treasures: The Curio Cabinet.
Sweater: Hand-me-down // Skirt: Me-Made (Tutorial here) // Boots: Modcloth // Hairbow: Poshmi
It’s funny the things that we keep in our curio cabinet: Souvenirs from Dad’s travels to far off places, and mementos from a trip to Hawaii Mom and Dad took several years ago; little gifts that we girls have made for Mom in days gone by; and Wedding gifts that Mom and Dad received over two decades back. In a way it’s a record of the more normal portion of our lives. The supposedly humdrum things of living in the modern age.
Oh! What fascination these items held when we girls were little. Listening to a giant seashell held up against our ear. Gently holding the little Swarovski mice or tea set in our hands. Making up little stories with the Chinamen statues. The memories of days gone by, and yet, a reflection of the days to come. I think, in the end, it’s the small things in life that we’ll remember, just because the bigger things so obviously stood out years ago. And I’m glad we have a place to keep these little nicknack memories, a collection to admire, recollect and add to in the years to come.
Do you have a place where you keep your nicknacks and treasures?
Have you ever traveled out of your homeland?
What would you bring back from a trip abroad?
