Hello dearies! Have the breezes of November reached your neck of the woods yet? Our woods have been almost completely emptied of their bounteous leaves, and the gray-brown of the winter months is starting to show its face. Thankfully the bitter cold has not yet arrived, though I hear tell that there is to be snow this weekend. Botheration! November always puzzles me, because at the beginning, there are little hints and teases of snow, and then we go for almost two months(!) without a single snowflake. Finally, if we’re lucky, we’ll get snow around Christmastime, though thankfully its only a powdered sugar coating usually, and not a carton of ice-cream. 😉 Anyways, because the weather was nice yesterday, I was able to wear this between-seasons outfit!
Yesterday was full of trials and blessings. Mom and I went out to pick up a vintage sewing machine in the afternoon. I was SO excited, because it was a portable model (the one I have currently is a cabinet model), and I had been searching for such a machine for ages! But then, at the end of my time trying it out, it jams and the bobbin stops working. I thought it was something that I had accidentally done, but when we got it home and Dad and I looked inside, we discovered that one of the only plastic gears had shattered to pieces! BOTHERATION! And this is a vintage machine! How was I ever going to find the part? On top of that, I was dealing with some stress from an upcoming event that I am helping organize, so I was quite distraught over this small calamity. My stress nearly ruined our girls’ singing practice, and caused many a raised voice in our house. Not good.
That night, when I looked back over the day, nearly overcome with my worries, I realized how much the Lord had blessed me that day:
I had finally found a machine that I had been searching for, even though the gear was broken. But then I found the proper gear online, so I’ll hopefully be able to fix it!
I had a fun photoshoot with Charlotte for this outfit post.
God gave me strength and patience to hold my tongue when I really wanted to say some un-necessary things throughout the day.
Even when we have a day that seems like it was all trials, when we truly examine the past hours of toil, we will see the blessings that the Lord put there that we didn’t even stop to notice. Thank the Lord for His bountiful mercy and providence! He never leaves us nor forsakes us!
I actually had a hard time putting together this outfit! I wanted to wear a sweater over my eShakti dress, but everything made my waist look too thick (yes, I have an issue with those sort of optical illusions). Finally this sweater’s proportions worked, but the v-neck was too low, even though the neckline of my dress barely came up high enough for my standards. To distract from that, I added my pearl necklace, and then accessorized my hair with a flexi from Lilla Rose. Overall I ended up liking this outfit, and I think I might wear it again when it’s not too chilly outside.
