Today we’re partnering up with A Pocket of Whimsy, that delightful shop filled with all manner of playful, fantastical jewelry; to show you all how we styled Nautical for the Autumn months! You, like us, may have thought that Nautical was a style that could only be pulled off in the summer, but today we’re going to show you how to bring this fun trend into the cooler days of the year.
A Pocket of Whimsy always has the most delightful of packaging! We all squealed with delight when we saw the fairy like bundle of our accessories.
Charlotte took her very nautical striped dress, and, to make it better fit for a cooler temperature, added her knee-high boots, and a sweet little headscarf to tie it all together. The silver of her Starfish locket (look below for an up-close shot), paired perfectly with the white stripes of her dress, bringing the nautical theme to a full climax.
I was inspired by the Arian sweaters of the Irish fisherman in my ensemble. My tan cabled sweater fit the bill perfectly as a substitution for the classic Irish piece, while my denim skirt added the “casual” edge that my outfit needed. On my feet are a classic pair of oxfords, which, though they are more of a city shoe, were the perfect footwear choice for this outfit. Topped off with my red beret to add a pop of color, some neutral “crystal” earrings, and my delightful Compass Necklace, this outfit was nautical while still feeling perfectly at home in the autumn of the year.
Jessica was the maiden of the sea in her ensemble! Can’t you see the gray, stormy waves, the sand of the shore, the lines of the fisherman’s garb, and the seashells that little children collect as they walk by the shore on a calm, sunny day? Jessica created this ensemble by pairing a gray turtleneck with a knitted vest. To this she added her linen skirt and her sturdy wooden clogs. To finish the look of the maiden of the sea, she intertwined these delightful seashell hair pins into her natural locks.
Jessica loves these seashell hair pins! They are perfectly tiny, so as not to be obtrusive, and could be put in any hairstyle, whether it be for a beach wedding, or, as in her case, a nautical outfit for daily wear.
Charlotte absolutely adores this Starfish Locket. The bright silver of the chain echoes the silver of the starfish, making for a beautiful, delicate, yet very sturdy piece of jewelry.
I fell in love with this working Compass locket from the first time I set eyes on it in Alexis’ shop. The idea of a working compass that could be worn… ah! It reminded me of tales of wanderers in far off lands, who were guided back home by a shepherding hand and a well worn compass. Every time I feel its sturdy weight around my neck I think to myself, if ever I am lost, I can find my way back home again.
