We have a big surprise for you all–we are volunteering at the National Bible Bee this week down in Orlando Florida! Since we thought you all would love to know what we are going to wear, each one of us prepared a post to show you our different outfits we will be wearing for every day of the whole week of volunteering! Sound fun? Let’s see what I picked out.
Monday: We traveled all day yesterday in a Chartered Bus before bedding down for the night at our halfway point of the journey (oh yes, the volunteers from Bible Bee head quarters all took a Chartered Bus down to Florida! So fun!), and so I wanted to wear something that would keep me comfortable all day long. A simple cotton sweater to keep me warm, but not stifling; a cotton, knee length skirt that looks good even after a long bus ride; and a denim jacket for the pit stops we had to make (it wouldn’t get warm until later on that night).
Tuesday: Today we will be traveling for half of the day before we arrive in Orlando, and Orlando means the Convention Center, and the Convention Center means I need to look my best for the day of set up. By now you can tell I am in Florida–a sleeveless dress, sandals, and a lightweight sweater. Now I have to tell you that for every year of Bible Bee, there is a different theme for each book that is studied. This year it was the Book of Jonah, and so all volunteers were encouraged to wear nautical-looking outfits. Pretty fun eh? Obviously I went for a nice aqua blue today.
Wednesday: My tasks for tomorrow will be geared around helping out with the Bible Bee E-Store, and tour guiding the contestant families around the C.C.. Thus, a lot of moving around and walking a lot! And if you all remember from Brigi’s Palazzo Pants post, she mentioned I had made a pair and would be wearing them. Well, I will wear them tomorrow, and I have to say I am just super excited to pull them on and enjoy every minute I am in them! Aren’t they the. best. pants. ever? They’re flowy, and light, with a great deal of comfort in the waist, and they spell Nautical completely! Oh I cant wait!!! 🙂 I matched my navy striped T-shirt and white cotton sweater with them, to complete the look. I know it will be warm down in Florida, but we will be inside all day in an air conditioned building. I always get cold, so the sweater is a must have.
Thursday: I know, I know, I am still wearing the same sandals, but honestly, these are the only sandals that go with everything, and are terribly comfortable to wear. I will be a Preliminary Judges assistant today (sound scary?) and so I will be sitting for a great majority of the time. Thus I decided to wear one of my more “delicate” ensembles, pairing my nearly-sheer silk top with a very lightweight cotton skirt. I typically get cold when I sit for a long time, so I will probably be bringing along a sweater into the Judging room with me. Later that night we all will be attending the Opening Ceremony. I love that part!
Friday: A conglomeration of activities will be keeping me on my toes for most of Friday, and so I wanted to be as comfortable shoe wise as possible. Thus I chose to wear my darling Saltwater Sandals. In keeping with this beach-y theme, I went for my khaki, or sandy, colored dress. It’s not quite as nautical… more or less safari I should think… but anyhow it will not really matter what I wear on that day because I will be involved in the women’s set-up and tear down crew for the morning, and then helping out with the E-Store team all afternoon.
Saturday Afternoon: On the very last day we will be volunteering I will be waking up bright and early to put on this simple, yet sleek outfit before heading out to the C.C. to help out with the Information Booth. Again I will be assigned to the E-Store, and after that to a very important part of Bible Bee Nationals. Hmm… I am not permitted to say what I will be participating in, but it should be fun! After that activity is over I will be skipping back to our room for a brief change to put on…
Saturday Evening: This! The stripes, style, and even shoes demand the title of Nautical Flare, no? Why will I have to change? Well for the very reason that we will be attending the Closing Ceremony, which will be completed by a fabulous Reception time. I am not sure what will be going on at the Reception, but with every year there is a grand celebration, and I believe there is dessert involved! Yum! 🙂
Accessories: Because of the time crunch I had in racing in and out of the house to change outfits before the rain hit, I neglected to put on my Nautical Inspired Accessories. Thanks to the incredible Etsy shop, A Pocket of Whimsy, all three of us were able to go to Florida with something special to wear around our necks or in our hair, like me!
Note: I plan to wear my sea shell bobby pins in my hair close to the way I styled them in the review.
