Howdy! What have you all been up to? I’ve been modeling for a makeup tutorial, helping Jessica as we both work on sewing up some new 1940’s dresses for a special event; singing some new songs that my sisters and I have been working on (heavenly version of Danny Boy anyone?), and having other life adventures, posting on this blog not included.
This outfit sort of came together by accident! I had been wearing the top all day, not quite happy with how it paired with the other skirt I had been wearing. So as I was looking in my closet debating what to add to my outfit to make it complete, I spied this skirt and it hit me! It would go perfectly with my “edgy” T-shirt and add just the right touch of femininity to my outfit in a complimentary way. To make my Tee fit just a bit more comfortably, I just twisted up a little knot in the back and tucked it up. A few years ago I never liked it when girls would rubber band a knot at the hem of their too-large T-shirts, thinking it looked sloppy. But when I tried it for myself, and tucked the knot up underneath so it was no longer visible, I had found my new fashion assistant!
So what special 1940’s event was I talking about? Well, if you hadn’t noticed the little button over on the sidebar for the Remembering WWII event, check it out now!
At the end of September, Saturday the 27th to be exact, an event that you won’t want to miss will take place down in Linden, Tennessee. Not only will four WWII vets be sharing their stories, answering questions, and sharing the important life lessons God has taught them, Mr. Bill Potter will be opening the day with an overview of World War Two (if you have ever heard Mr. Potter speak at any Christian History events, you will know you won’t want to miss this); and not only that but there will also be two Battle Reenactments, a Vintage Vehicle display, an Army encampment, Jeep Rides, Swap Meet, Live Music (including a big band!), and impersonations of people from the WWII era from the home front to the battle lines. And best of all the event is FREE!!! And… if you sign up to be a re-enactor, you just might be able to see us girls sing! Because we were invited to sing at a private USO dinner to cap off the evening for all the vets, staff, and re-enactors. I hope that’s enough incentive to get you all to at least come stop by and say hi during the day, because we girls will be walking around enjoying the event along with everyone else. Please do tell us if you’ll be coming! We’d love to see you all there! And a huge thank you to Jessica C. and her family for inviting us! We are so super-duper excited to meet all you lovely ladies down in Tennessee in person!
