Hey hey hey! It’s Saturday 😀 I hope you all have been having as splendid a week as we have! There are SO many things going on around the Boyer household! One of which we girls are OVERTHEMOON about! You may have gotten a hint of what that may be in this post. Anyway, onto my outfit…
On my Birthday shopping trip, we had the opportunity to go to the Clothes Mentor, and boy, but was I excited about that! I had heard from Ashley that they sell Anthro & ModCloth brands, which left no doubt in my mind that I wanted to scout one out for myself and see what treasures I could find. Well, my adventure in that store proved fruitful: I found (what I believe to be) an Anthropologie top, as well as a bright yellow gingham printed Shabby Apple skirt from their Ferris Wheel Collection (which is discontinued). You can guess how excited I was about that! I tried it on, and lo and behold, it fit me like a dream… up at the top. As you scanned down, however, that was a different story. Let’s just say the my giraffe like legs got the best of me with the length. Ha! Anyhow, it just so happened that the top which I had decided to pair with the skirt in the dressing room was the top that you see above, the one from Anthro! At first site, the two yellows combined with the two similar prints didn’t exactly jive, but it did give me some inspiration! After hanging the skirt back on the rack, and packing the Anthro top in my shopping bag, I looked in my wardrobe at home and envisioned the combination you see today! Long story short, I got up the courage to pair two different shades of yellow, lol ;P
Quite honestly, I don’t care if it’s a fashion faux pa, or if some people are revolted by my idea, because I love it 🙂 It feels different, unique, and me. Sometimes you just gotta get up the umph to wear what you want to wear, staying within your household regulations of course. God gave all of us different styles and perspectives, and that is one of the most beautiful things. Everyone of us is made unique in His image, with our own beauty, style, way of thought, build… everything created by Him before the beginning of time! One can’t help but feel utterly humbled when that thought comes to mind. It reminds me of what it says in Psalm 139:
“For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them.” (Psalm 139:13-16, NKJV)
When I read through that scripture, and understand that I was created fearful and wonderful by God, my conscience is pricked, and I am ashamed of looking at the celebrities, the models, and my peers and coveting their natural beauty, gorgeous hair, slender build… The list goes on. The fact alone that my Father in heaven had a thought of me before the beginning of time should in itself be enough.
Wow, well that was a thorough post! We went from consignment shopping to Psalm 139!
Today I plan to make these Pierogies with Mom, finish up a website that I am currently designing, and… yikes, I’m out of things to do! Maybe experiment with different makeup looks for my next Healthful Beauty video? We’ll see!
