Like I mentioned in my previous post, last Monday I adventured out with my best friend and sisters on a birthday shopping spree & lunch date. One of the first stops was Ulta (makeup heaven), and I had a mental list of exactly what I was going to purchase, an EOS lip balm being one of them. Why, you ask? Well, after hearing Ashley sing the praises of these balms for so long, and then finding out that they were made of organic, naturally healthful ingredients; I was immediately sold! Of course, it helps when the smell is absolutely heavenly, and the packaging is out-of-this-world adorable… but more on that later 🙂
Leading up to my birthday (which also marked the age of me being old enough to delve into the realm of cosmetics deeper than chapstick and lipgloss) as I was researching various techniques and methods of applying makeup, I had become more and more conscious about the products that I was (and was going to be) putting on my face; “Healthful Beauty”, as I call it. I began to search for inexpensive, health-conscious cosmetic lines, and found a few gems: Evolution Of Smooth (EOS) being one of them. Thus, I felt good about supporting a company that provided clean, conscientiously created products at the average consumer level.
The main products which I try and be the most careful about are the ones which are going to be in direct contact with my face/possibly being ingested, specifically: Foundation, Eye Primer, Lip Products, and Acne/Facial Treatment. I still have yet to ween myself off the lip product side of things ($8 lipstick can be kinda hard to pass up, ya know?); so when I purchased this EOS lip balms, it got me one step closer to completely purging myself of drugstore/chemical laden products.
So onto the actual pros and cons of the product! I purchased the lip balm in the “Sweet Mint” flavor for two reasons: 1) I had heard amazing reviews about it from Ashley, and 2) I didn’t want to be dealing with any artificial, fruity, overly-summery flavors. You guys, that smell is like heavenly mint! It reminds me of Orbit sweet mint gum, and is SO sweet and yummy and not in anyway artificial. The application is easy, and the formula very cooling to the lips. I was rather surprised at first at just how cooling the formula really was, but I have grown to enjoy it. I am now curious to know whether or not that feature is usual in all the EOS lip balms, or just the “Sweet Mint” flavor, since it complemented that specific lip balm flavor so well. All the more reason to get another one 🙂 I was SO impressed by the effects of the formula. It it very lightweight, leaving no residue or tackiness like chapstick; and is remarkably plumping and moisturizing. But then, how can you expect your skin to react anything less than that, when the product is made up of ingredients that your body loves? I ADORE the simple, unique packaging! It is so stylish, functional, and perfect for slipping in your purse on the go, or leaving in your cosmetics drawer for daily use. I call it my wittle egg 🙂
Now, what about the cons? My one and only quibble with this product is: it’s going to run out someday 🙁 Yes, I love it that much, I don’t want to use it all up! Do you ever get that way about makeup products or clothes, where you want to save and sparingly use them so they last? Yes, that is the way I am about most things, especially this lip balm 🙂
What’s the final verdict? 100% A+ Yahooshwazame awesome! Totally go to your local beauty store and get. this. balm. right. now.
