Hello there! We girls at the BFS studio recently came up with the idea of sharing more of our daily lives with you all through posts entitled, “How We…”. We are going to start off this intermittent series with “How We Live” And I get to be the first to share with you all!!!
Before we dive into how I live my daily life, I thought I would share a few likes, dislikes, and habits of mine.
I am typically a late sleeper, though once I’m up, I am up! I am known for being extremely persistent, being the walking dictionary of the house, and rather loud and boisterous at times. I am nearing the completion of my senior year of high school, and being homeschooled, the work is gradually petering off as I get closer to Graduation (yay!). I like to sew (didn’t you know that already??? :P), and hate cheap quality fabrics, whatever fiber they are made of. Are you all ready to take a peek into my daily life now? Let’s go!
I wake up between 6:00 and 7:00, with hopefully enough time to get ready for the day before Family Worship, which takes place at half past seven (I have a VERY bad habit of sleeping in. 😀 Admit it, you do it too sometimes! It’s just that I do it, well, 90% of the time). After that we have breakfast which typically consists of Oatmeal, cold cereal, or Sourdough waffles or Pancakes, depending on the day.
I start school after breakfast, and it is this occupation which takes up the majority of my morning, and half of my afternoon, depending on the work load for the day of course. As evidenced by the above picture, I typically like to read while I’m laying on the floor, and sometimes I’ll have one of our two furry friends to keep me company while I finish up whatever book it is, which, lately, has been Grimm’s Fairy Tales, since I don’t have any other books left to read, and I’m not sure if I ever read through the whole book when I was younger.
Other than reading, I of course have Geometry, Science (I’m taking a baking course for Chemistry. SO FUN!!!), and Rhetoric to do, and blogging is my Communications/Writing class. 🙂
I’m finished with History, though all my courses in the past few years have been fashion related, as that’s the area I have the most interest in, and, contrary to what you might think, it actually gave me a very good broad view of the events that have taken place throughout history, aside from just fashion history.
We typically have lunch around noon, and, if it’s a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, it is my job to do dishes. After lunch, on one of the first weekdays, we will have our blog meeting, where we plan out the various posts that will go up for the next week.
Once lunch, and all its proceeding activities are through, I’ll go and spruce myself up a bit for the rest of the afternoon. It’s around this time that I will sometimes put on makeup and/or jewelry. For some odd reason, I will put on an outfit in the morning, and never realize that it needs a certain finishing touch of an accessory until after lunch. I guess I’m not much of an accessories person. 😀
If I am scheduled to post that day, I’ll start writing it either right before or after lunch. Once the post is up, and I have the remainder of my schoolwork finished, I have the rest of my afternoon free to work on projects, browse the internet, etc. Lately I have been working on a 1930’s dress (What I Made post coming soon), slip, and a surprise project that you all shall see IF it works out. We’ll have to see…
We will typically eat Dinner, or Supper if you prefer, around the 6th hour of the afternoon, and an hour after that we girls will practice singing. I lead the time of singing exercises and running through of songs. Depending on our mood, the time can either be loud, fun, hilarious, and distracting, or, um a bit of a tussle of words. 😐 So, in case any of you have been wondering, yes we do argue. Though things have gotten better over the years.
Once we’re finished singing, we’ll all watch a show on Hulu or have a work night. Regardless of which, I always like to have something to work on, whether it’s hand sewing, knitting, crocheting, or prep work for my next sewing project. I’ve gotten into the habit of not liking to sit with idle hands, which is a good thing, though rather bothersome if I don’t have anything ready to be worked on!
After we all say our prayers and goodnights, we girls will stay up late talking, reading, listening to a book, or stretching and exercising (odd to exercise at night, I know). I don’t like exercising very much, though I am challenging myself to work up the amount of push-ups I can do, and I’m hoping to do a squats challenge in April. We’ll see how that goes!
