Yay! Another finished clothing item to share with you all! I have been needing some “long underwear” that suits my taste and clothing needs for a while, and now they’re finished (or at least a few of them are).
I wanted to make myself some knee length knickers, leggings, whatever you would call a pant like, tight fitting garment to be worn under skirts and the like, since I HATE tucking in ankle length leggings into my socks. I also thought it high time that I make myself an elbow length sleeved undershirt to keep all the sweat and grime off of my shorter sleeved dresses.
I was greatly inspired by this picture that Wearing History put up on flickr, and am oh, so grateful to another fellow sew fortnightlier for the research into sewing with knits in the 1940’s. I used the seam technique that she talks about in this post for finishing the seams on both my T-shirt and my knickers.
These knickers have certainly met to my requirements as far as length and comfort go, but I wish the thermal knit was a bit thicker. I still need to make myself a few more t-shirts and perhaps some more knickers are in order as well…
