Last Sunday we had the immense pleasure of performing for our Pastor’s son (a recently returned home Afghanistan veteran) and his soon-to-be bride, Lydia, at our Church’s fellowship meal! Our pastor and his wife kept on hinting at us girls to learn “I’ve Got a Gal in Kalamazoo” while Danny was deployed, as Lydia, with whom Danny was in a relationship with at that time, just so happened to be from that delightfully-titled part of Michigan.
As Danny’s return home from his deployment in Afghanistan drew nearer and nearer, we girls knew we couldn’t miss out on the special opportunity of performing “Kalamazoo” for him and his gal; so research began for arrangements and backing tracks. We decided it wouldn’t be quite proper to keep the lyrics of the original first-person stand-point, so we changed them up a bit, as you will hear in the video.
The Sunday finally came for us to perform (we got to use our new mics for the first time in public!), and we decided to whip out a new favorite of ours “I’ll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time” in addition to “Kalamazoo”, as the content of the song was just so perfect for that occasion.
Now, the video above is completely off-topic of this post, but I just had to share 🙂 On top of our typical “live performance” videos, we girls thought it would be fun to film “behind the scenes” clips of us girls rehearsing some of our latest songs, to add to our YouTube channel. The video above is of an Americana piece (not exactly our usual style, but Oh! SO fun), titled “Cripple Creek”. We can’t wait to share the finished product!
