Today I am presenting to you all a very special outfit post, as Ashley of Bramblewood Fashion and I are going to be “twins” of sorts, and wear skirts with a matching plaid pattern! Isn’t that fun? It all started with instagram, when I posted a picture of me mending this skirt, having found dozens of moth holes after I had thrifted it (more on that later). Ashely commented that she too owned a skirt with the exact same plaid pattern! She ended her comment with a #twins, which gave me a lightbulb moment: Why not we do a “twins” outfit post? I commented back with my idea, and after a few back-and-forths about scheduling, we decided upon today to do it! I think we’re both taking a leap of faith, as neither of us know what each others’ skirt looks like, other than the fact that it is of the exact same plaid 😉
I had a little trouble figuring out how to style this skirt, as the length isn’t the most flattering, and I needed a top that would be slimming and complement the straighter style of the skirt. I love wearing cardigans as a sort of button-down shirt, so I whipped out one of my new staple jumpers and whammo! The perfect outfit 🙂 I tied a new scarf Brigi gave me around my neck, as it echoed the lovely red of the skirt, and sort of balanced the whole thing.
Can we talk about my skirt for a moment? Brigid pulled this one off the rack at goodwill and called me over, saying that this skirt might fit me. I’m all over kilts and plaid skirts, so I immediately snatched it up and tried it on. It fit me rather nice, and I enjoyed the unique shape that the pleats down at the bottom gave; and it is vintage! So, of course, I brought it home, never expecting to find dozens of moth holes and torn fibers 🙁 Maybe I should just start a string of posts about my “Series of Unfortunate (Thrifting) Events”, in light of my sweater I talked about yesterday, and now this skirt… Maybe that, or I should just be a bit more careful about what I decide to buy from a thrift store. Anyways, I stitched up the holes, and am crossing my fingers that no more blemishes pop up lol ;P
Oh, and I decided that Angel would make a cameo in these photos, as she’s just too cute and cuddly not to show off 🙂 She was very sweet and cooperated, awkwardly posing with me and showing off her ingenious smile; not at all uncomfortable or miserable. I am, in fact, very delighted with how affectionate she looks in the above photos… So photogenic! 😉
So, I guess both dogs get to show off in this post. I’m ok with that. Besides, we do own the cutest, as well as the handsomest dogs on the planet, so of course I’m ok with it. 😉
