Happy Lord’s Day ladies!
What a wonderful thing to be able to come before the Lord every week in humble adoration, lifting our hearts up to Him in praise to give Hime the glory due His name! Thanks be to God that He has continued to give us this freedom within our country to worship unrestrained! I only pray that this gift will never be taken away from us!
On a cheerier note, is everyone drinking up every last drop of the Fall colors as much as I? There are two things in life that just fill my heart with praise to the Lord, and they are the seasons of Fall and Spring! I love to see the life surging back into the earth once the gloomy Winter has run its course. And then to be given a sharp breath of spicy autumnal air every morning after Summer has died away, always fills my mind with cozy, warm thoughts. Ah! Change is so wonderful!
Then too, there are those times when one just loves to hold onto the beauty they’re presently gazing at! I confess I am very much that kind of person. I savor every visual feast my eyes consume. And as each one fades to a shadow of what it once was, I feel sad, as if I have just said a very hard goodbye to a dear friend. “How fickle my heart, and how woozy my eyes…” such a perfect saying!
Okay, now here is a funny thing! This darling plaid wool skirt used to reside at our local GoodWill, and at one point was picked out by Charlotte to be tried on. Well, for one reason or another, she did not purchase it, and so it was put away on the rack again. The next time we stepped into the store, I was the one divinely chosen to find it, try it on, poke my head out the fitting room door, and call, “Hey Mom, how’s this one?” To my great surprise, Charlotte hollered out, “Oh, Jess, I tried that one on last time!” Haha! Just tells you how often we sift through that thrift store! 🙂
As you can see, the skirt was an instant keeper, and thus I brought it home. I. Love. It! One of the best fitting wool skirts I have ever worn!
This ruffled silky blouse has been a long time staple among my Church attire, and was bought several years ago at Kohl’s. Underneath you see a very delicate lace collar which was found at one of our local antique stores. Most of the time I will pair this blouse and collar together, for modesty’s sake, as well as for a rustic antiquated look. And of course, when I brought the skirt home, I knew instantly these pieces would work wonderfully with it. Last but not least, my knit 1800’s military styled jacket has been worn ever so many times with other wooled outfits, so I knew that it would give me the right look, besides giving me an extra layer of warmth. Thus you have a cozy, sharp looking outfit curated just for the golden season.
I hope each and every one of you ladies will pray with me and my family against the ensuing onslaught of attacks we may very soon be suppressed with against our beloved Church(es), and the possibility of our freedom of worship being taken away. May the Lord be our very shield and protector in this good fight against the powers of darkness! May we young women be strengthened in spirit to be bold, and help strengthen our families for the times to come.
Let us hold on to that which is righteous and good, and never loose sight of our great goal in life!
What a lovely outfit! It looks sort of Edwardian. I think my favorite part is the jacket. 🙂
I can relate to your feeling of savoring each season. Autumn is my favorite, I finally decided, but I enjoy each one for different reasons.
So pretty! I love it! You girls are so funny 🙂
Love the outfit combination!!
Lovely outfit! I love how you combined all the different shades of brown…and the collar and jacket are quite swoon-worthy!
My mother and I often have similar conversations at thrift stores, haha. We do a LOT of thrifting as well.(:

That blouse is stunning—what a great find at Kohl’s! The lace collar seems made for it, and makes it look even lovelier! And I think it is wonderful that you find such great things at Good Will. What a blessing!
The beautiful brown theme of this outfit is so perfect for these last days of Autumn…
Oh, Jessica! I adore this outfit! Everything goes so nicely together, the skirt is lovely. I can’t believe that you found that amazing lace collar, what an awesome addition for your wardrobe to make not-exactly-modest blouses modest! It also adds a vintage touch, which I love! I am a 100% thrift shopper, my sisters and I are always finding something cute and we all are different sizes..so if we find something it will usually end up fitting one of us! I love the crispness of your photos, may I ask what type of camera you use?
Have a blessed evening!
