I have a new outfit to share with you all! As the title implies, these garments are a combination of something old – the lovely homemade skirt I swapped from Charlotte, along with something new – this empire waist, steel grey blouse, thrifted from our local GoodWill. (So thankful for that store!)
I must tell you all, if I haven’t already, how much I love grey! Do you? Just the other day, I read: “Grey is the new neutral!” Hmm… it appears I am not alone in this preference. And after discovering how it brings out the color in my hazel eyes, complements the tones in my skin, and over all gives me a satisfying appearance, I can safely say: yes, grey is my comfortable, go-to color.
It seems to me that we all (I don’t just mean we girls) have our favorite color pallets when it comes to buying and making up our everyday outfits. Some prefer the bright pinks and reds, others love the cool blues and greens. A few of us even cling to solid blacks and whites for our apparel. But as my designer Dad has always said, its good to wear all the colors of the rainbow (but not all at once!). I am reminded of this whenever I find myself slipping into the habit of buying new clothes in just my favorite colors. I have begun to use his motto as a little rule to follow, just so I don’t end up with a boring collection of garments. After all, who wants to wear just a few colors day after day with no variation? Not me!
Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention… the white collar is Not attached to my blouse! I found this doily like collar at a local antique store, and knowing how valuable it would be to me when fussing with large gaping necklines I decided it would be a good investment. It does the trick!
Now just look at how the grey in my blouse accentuates the bright orange and pale green in these flowers. Just tells yah how well any color could be complemented with this neutral one. Say yay to grey!
Blessing to you all!
