I sure hope some of you are not suffering from the hot spell this week as we are! Whew! Hot, humid, not a cloud in sight; the perfect ingredients for a sultry few days to come. I suppose I really shouldn’t complain, since it has been one of the coolest Summers. Despite our poor functioning during hot spells like this (believe me, it feels like one has to drag oneself all day long!), the bees, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, caterpillars, and other such insects don’t seem to have a problem in the least buzzing, flitting, and crawling under such weather conditions. This to me has always been such a wonderful testimony of God’s handy work: even the littlest of creatures work hard keeping the earth full of good things, and helping the plants stay alive whenever it is too hot for us to do so. He provides for all things.
Alrighty. I know you all have seen this beautiful flower vase a few times in these posts, so I thought it would be fun to share it’s history in our family’s life.
Around November of 2005, my father was on a business trip in Spain, researching soccer paraphernalia within the great soccer stadiums, as well as meeting with a few of the athletes (pretty cool right?) While on his trips abroad, Dad loves to hunt down souvenirs to bring home to the girls and I (this tradition was so much fun when we were little girls!) But on a few occasions, he brings home something special just for Mom. This trip proved to be one of those times.
During the trip, Dad visited one of those fabulous Spanish restaurants and found the very vase you see featured above and below in the pictures. He knew how much my Mom adores a sharp looking vase, so he bought it, and brought it home just for her.
The vase has been displayed manny countless times with or without a lovely bouquet. And I’ll bet you, if no body breaks it any time soon, it will live to hold bouquets for a long time to come. Maybe one day it will even be known as a family heirloom! Hmmm… 🙂
Hehe! Charlotte was taking a while to adjust her camera at this point, so I decided to mess around with her by quickly striking this pose just as she took the shot. I like a bit of jovial-ness when we do a shoot. That reminds me– have any of you heard that some flower heads are edible? Its true! And quite a few at that! Here is a link to the list of edible flowers. Enjoy!
May each and every one of you have a marvelous week!
