Last Wednesday, our local GoodWill was holding a Moonlight Madness Sale of 50% off of everything! Yes! Even the “expensive” cashmere sweaters were 50% off too! But. I was not to find a 50% off cashmere sweater. No, I was to find this wonderful coral Swing Coat! Whoopy!! How I love the color coral, although I still can’t decide if it looks good on me. What do you all think? 🙂 Made by the brand Gallery, this adorable soft outerwear boasts a 60’s swing look, complete with a luscious soft hood and scarf tails.
|The hood is my favorite attraction if you can’t already tell!|
The color of the coat was the first thing that grabbed my attention (as I said above, I love coral!) and as soon as I parted away the rest of the clothes on the rack, observed the soft fabric, and flipped over the size tag (xs), I swung (no pun intended) the darling thing off the rack and ran it into the fitting room. It was a perfect fit as you can see.
|The cape over cape has a classic affect on the 60’s flare. And the gold dot on the sleeve hints the cute buttons again!|
Now, I am in no way the true fashionista in this household – that would be Charlotte. Nor do I hold a great deal of historical fashion knowledge in my noggin (however, I am constantly being informed) – that would be Brigid. But I will say that I am quite particular about my style of clothes. Therefore I am not always the one coming out of a thrift store with oodles of bags filled with eye-candy, nor do I return home with a treasure chest full of vintage dresses. Okay, okay, I am being a bit over-the-top; Brigi and Charlotte don’t have experiences quite like this! All I am trying to say is this: I shop with a very critical mind, and thus I usually glean only a few items of clothes with each visit to GoodWill.
This coat, obviously a keeper, matched all my criteria for an acceptable buy. So, as soon as I tried on all the rest of the audition-ers, I exchanged my money for the coat, it was bagged in those funny plastic bags associated with grocery stores, and we were out the electronically opened sliding doors. It is now kept snuggly in between neighboring garments found in my waltz-in closet.
What d’y’all think of this fabulous find of mine?
