Good tidings to all our readers in this season of our Lord’s birth!
A little time ago, I was standing in the brushy grasses of the field near our house, admiring a prickly thorn brier that held a few last rose hips on its dainty ends. I thought to gather some, and as soon as I had collected a few, I looked further into the briers and discovered a wee frail nest! I was surprised to see this little abandoned home after so many times of walking past the brier and never having seen it before. But my delight was completed when I peered in to have a closer look — the nest was full of the missing rose hips!! How curious! I could not comprehend what cunning little creature could have put such a collection together, and I still have no clue…
Anyhow, I reached in, snagged my hand countless times, but managed to bring the whole nest out of the middle of the brier. Success! ( I secretly love it when I can weave and doge all manner of obstacles to bring home any small trophy!)
Do any of you have a clue as to who or what could and would collect rose hips and store them in a nest? And do you think I should put it back? 😉
A lovely Christmas to you all!
